Jocelyn Pope (b. 2005) is an emerging artist based in South Carolina, working with a focus in oil painting. She began her study of art while enrolled at Davidson Fine Arts, which encouraged her artistic development and exploration of several mediums including drawing and ceramics.
Her technique often consists of small brushwork and warm, vibrant hues, employing them to accomplish strikingly complex details and visuals. Pope's artistic concerns are topics such as race, gender, and belonging, acknowledging how they have shaped her personal narrative both personally and creatively.
She has had the privilege of exhibiting work in shows spanning from Washington D.C. to Miami Florida, being recognized for her work with numerous awards including Scholastic Art and Writing, the Congressional Art Award, and the YoungArts Distinction Award.
